Porkbun in Oregon, USA, handles the domain registration for the main website, email, and the RSS feed, sound files, images, and transcripts of the The Yellow Light Sound as well as any other sub-domains of <theyellowlight.org>. Porkbun also hosts the email itself.

This website runs on Ghost software and is hosted through Magic Pages in Germany, with servers from Hetzner, also in Germany. For the global delivery network, it uses BunnyCDN in Slovakia. All three adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union (EU). It protects your privacy better than almost any other national or supra-national legislation. User accounts with email addresses in common with a Gravatar account will have their Gravatar profile pictures appear here as well. The company for Gravatar is part of Automattic Inc., a company in California, USA.

The Mailgun company handles the newsletter. It is based in Texas, USA, and is owned by Sinch, a company in Sweden.

Podcast

Podcast media is hosted through Blubrry Podcasting in Ohio, USA, in line with its privacy policy, which uses hosting from Amazon Web Services (a service of Amazon in Seattle, USA) and information from Google Analytics (a service of Google LLC in California, USA, a company of Alphabet, also in California, USA). Blubrry also develops the PowerPress plug-in for WordPress. PowerPress creates the RSS feed for The Yellow Light Sound.

The embedded player for the podcast is from the Public Radio Exchange (PRX). It is a 501(c)(3) US nonprofit in Massachusetts with a privacy policy. PRX does not host, produce, distribute, or endorse The Yellow Light Sound. This site just uses the PRX web player.

For transparency in listening statistics, files use the prefix for OP3 (the Open Podcast Prefix Project). OP3 is the doing-business-as name for Skymethod LLC. Headquarted in Texas, USA, OP3 publishes open-access statistics for podcasts in accordance with its terms of service and privacy policy. A California, USA-based company, Cloudflare, also contributes to some measurements of OP3 in line with its privacy policy. Location data from the podcast maintains records of general location, region, and software used for downloading.
